Safeguarding the integrity and authenticity of life sciences data, with seamless integrations and 100% guaranteed data integrity.
Data archiving in Life Sciences
With a growing list of customers in Life Sciences, Arkivum delivers a wide range of data archiving and lifecycle management solutions to organisations in the UK while meeting today’s compliance and governance requirements.
Data volumes are increasingly rapidly and today’s data management standards are increasingly complex to fulfil. Our data archiving managed solution is flexible and scalable.
By providing flexible deployment options including on-site, hybrid or cloud deployments, managed by the Arkivum solution and service, your management overhead is reduced.
The security, integrity and sovereignty of life science data are the key elements of our data safeguarding solution.
Arkivum is certified to ISO 27001, the internationally recognised information security management standard. Our solution delivers compliance and assurance around data lifecycle management.
Case Study: Bristol Genetics Lab
The Bristol Genetics Laboratory is based at the new, state-of-the-art laboratories in the Pathology Science building at Bristol Southmead NHS hospital. It delivers routine genetic testing services to the South West region, a population of approximately 5 million, as well as providing specialist, and highly specialised services to the rest of the UK and internationally.
Learn how they have implemented a cloud-based Arkivum solution to facilitate the storing of gene-sequencing data and digital imaging from the 30,000 genetic investigations it conducts annually.

Data security, authenticity and integrity
Maximising the value of data is the lifeblood of life sciences and it therefore stands to reason that protecting your data is an essential part of data management. All data is AES encrypted on the Arkivum Service before it is archived in our private cloud services… a number of core changes.
All operations that touch your data are conducted within our chain of custody processes that ensure that data integrity is never compromised.
ISO 27001 Certification
Arkivum is certified to the international standard ISO 27001:2013. This is an important part of Arkivum’s business and is central to how we manage and interact with the data that our customers entrust to us.
Our certification to ISO 27001 forms the foundation that enables us to help you be in compliance with a range of standards relevant to life sciences such as ISO 15189, ISO 17018 and 21CFR Part 11.
Flexible, managed cloud-based service
Massively and instantly scalable to meet the explosive data growth coming from NGS, visualisation, imaging and associated technologies in life sciences.
Based on a gateway appliance model, an installation can be completed in less than a day.
With a range of products and services, you are able to mix-and-match the types of storage solution, and their associated capacities, as your needs change and grow.
Case Study: National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR)
NIMR is one of the world’s leading medical research institutes, dedicated to studying important questions about the life processes that are relevant to all aspects of health. But new data-intensive technologies mean that the volume of data that needs to be stored is increasing rapidly.
Learn how NIMR used the Arkivum solution to comply with regulations and free up expensive primary storage.
Case Study: Oxford Molecular Diagnostic Centre / Oxford NHS Hospitals NHS Trust
With the need for a scalable, easily-procured and cost-effective long-term storage solution, the Oxford Molecular Diagnostics Centre deployed 60TB of Arkivum long-term archive storage.
The cost-effectiveness of the Arkivum solution has meant that OMDC have opted to store all their FASTQ, BAM and VCF files to allow easy reanalysis of the data that is facilitating the creation of an optimal clinical bioinformatics pipeline. This in effect means that the solution is now storing 50% more data volume than originally planned thus reducing the load on local IT infrastructure storage and the costs associated with having these files in the backup window (and making the Arkivum system even more cost-effective).
