Extends the reach of the original framework agreement
Chippenham, Wiltshire – 23 October 2014, Arkivum, the leading provider of long-term, assured digital data archiving solutions, announced today new, lower priced options for its archive-as-a-service products for colleges and universities.
The pricing extensions enable institutions using the UK’s Janet network provided by Jisc, to purchase Arkivum/100 at significantly reduced cost when specifying larger storage volumes through its Data Archiving Framework. Pricing bands have been introduced for volumes greater than 200 terabytes (TB) to ensure that institutions with very large data archive requirements get the most cost-effective deal possible.
In addition, they are now also able to purchase the Arkivum/1+1 product, which offers very economical long-term data storage and archiving when the Arkivum/100 100% data integrity guarantee is not required.
“Since announcing the initial framework with Jisc last year, Arkivum has been working extensively with its university clients to understand not only today’s need for archiving, but also what each university might need for the future.” said Jim Cook, CEO of Arkivum. “It’s all about making it easier and more economical to procure the most suitable data archiving products.”
This extension to the framework is extremely timely. 1st May 2015 sees the deadline for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) policy framework for data management of publicly funded research. This framework promotes the sharing, preservation, easy discovery and re-use of research data within the academic community and will require many institutions to review their current data archiving capacity.
The new pricing and storage options are available immediately. For more information and detailed pricing, visit the Janet Community website.
