Arkivum and MirrorWeb partner to provide integrated web & social media archiving with data management

Reading, UK 9th August 2018 – Arkivum, the trusted software and service partner for long-term data lifecycle management and digital preservation are delighted to announce partnership with MirrorWeb the dynamic, scalable, cloud-native platform that meets compliance and regulatory requirements when archiving electronic communications. Arkivum and MirrorWeb have partnered to make the process of preserving website and social media feeds effortless through integration into Arkivum’s managed service offering, making digital preservation processes even more seamless.

Because of this partnership; web and social media preservation is now an integral component of Arkivum Perpetua, powered by MirrorWeb.

The University of Westminster is the first to pilot this collaboration by archiving a number of unique web-based collections including Harrow Ceramic Archive and a fashion archive. These resources will now not only be searchable by non-expert users for years into the future without reliance on the website themselves but will also be automatically preserved and described in their digital preservation solution, Arkivum’s Perpetua.
The addition of this important capability into the Perpetua solution fulfils a major gap for institutions when reviewing the market for digital preservation as a service. Aligning with Arkivum’s open-standards and no-vendor-lock-in philosophy, this partnership makes Perpetua the most comprehensive data lifecycle management solution and service which includes safeguarding, digital preservation, compliance, records management and integration and data discovery.

As well as the added functionality benefiting current and prospective customers of Arkivum alike, MirrorWeb clients are also now able to extend the value of their investment with Perpetua, providing a full data lifecycle management solution.

Phil Ogden, Marketing Director, said

“We are delighted to be partnering with Arkivum as a forward-thinking and expert provider in this arena. This is a new development that represents a progressive evolution of our respective ambitions to deliver best in class end-to-end digital archiving solutions within a coalition of specialist providers. “

Arkivum’s Paula Keogh, VP of Higher Education, Archives, Libraries & Heritage stated:

“It’s important to us that we continue to make leaps forward in digital preservation strategy and make it easier to embed preservation into everyday practices. MirrorWeb has a totally unique solution to the difficult issue of preserving web and social media content. This partnership makes it a seamless process to capture and then automatically preserve and describe challenging content types in a re-usable way.“

MirrorWeb and Arkivum will be exhibiting at the ARA Conference in Glasgow 29th – 31st August.
