Arkivum joins Jisc’s Digital Preservation Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS)
Arkivum is delighted to announce that it has joined Jisc’s newly launched Digital Preservation (DP) Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS).
The new DPS is designed to offer UK-based Higher Education institutes, Further Education and Specialist Colleges and Research Council establishments a simple mechanism to procure digital preservation solutions.
As stated within the Jisc announcement:
‘Based on sector requirements for data management, this new system will enable Jisc members to procure digital preservation tools through a fast, compliant, and competitive process. The reduced timescale of the process and reduced resource requirements lead to significant savings for members. As a compliant process it also means reduced procurement risk.’
Organisations continue to generate increasing volumes of digital content, which in turn is increasing the importance of ensuring appropriate long-term strategies and solutions are in place to guarantee access and use of digital information.
Yet, securing funding for and procuring digital preservation solutions can be challenging for organisations. It’s Arkivum’s hope that this new initiative will support its customers in protecting their long-term digital assets against time.
In conjunction with the announcement, Jisc have also published a comprehensive and freely available guide for using the DPS. This can be found at the link below.
The DPS will run for an initial three years to the 3rd March 2027, with the possibility of extending the initiative for a further year to 3rd March 2028 and then to 2029.
You can find out more about the DPS on Jisc’s website, here.
