News: Arkivum Launches 6.4: Introducing SharePoint Integration, Full Text Search and More

Blog Jack Leitch

Arkivum is excited to announce the launch of the latest version of its digital archiving and preservation solution. Based on direct feedback from customers, the new 6.4 release is packed with new features and product improvements.

Below we have listed some of the exciting new developments within the product.

Direct SharePoint integration improves upload process

Arkivum customers can easily transfer their data from SharePoint directly into the Arkivum solution. Arkivum users can direct the system towards their own SharePoint folders and navigate and ingest files from within the Arkivum solution. This process also enables users to retain their existing folder structure within the Arkivum tool.

The new feature will help reduce time spent on uploading and ingesting data into the Arkivum system. Additionally, it places more autonomy with the authorised administrators of the system, reducing the burden on IT support.

Full text search expands search capability

Searching for specific content within the Arkivum solution is now easier than ever before. Arkivum customers can now leverage full text search across documents within the archive. This is achieved by fully indexing text within supported documents. At launch, this new feature supports the majority of commonly used file formats including .pdf, .csv, .ppt, .json, .txt, .doc and more.

Full text search can be combined with the Arkivum system’s capability to create preservation and preview versions of files.  It is possible to search across documents such as PDF files created from emails.

This functionality significantly increases search functionality within the solution, making it easier to find the right information within the archive, when users need it most.

Supported preview formats increased

Building on our previous major update, we have expanded the ability to create and view preview formats within the Arkivum system. Now, in addition to .pdfs, it is possible to directly view other formats within the system including images and text files. For example, .pst email archives can be extracted into individual emails and attachments, which are then converted into preview formats for viewing.

Combined with the improvements to our search capability, it is easier than ever to search and review content within the Arkivum system.

And that’s not all…

The three highlights above are just a selection from a range of other new features and improvements that we have made to the product. These include (but not limited to);

  • The ability for records to inherit retention schedules within the Arkivum system
  • Enhancements to reasons users can give for actions taken within the archive (which are also captured within the audit trail)
  • Improvements in the way users restructure data within the user interface
